POCATELLO, Idaho -- Christian Brininger whispered, "It's gotta be me," as Head Track and Field Coach Hillary Merkley shared a story about how she once out lifted the individual chosen for the Jackie Poulson Memorial Scholarship on Tuesday afternoon. Minutes later, face still flushed, the 6-foot-9 thrower accepted the scholarship from Poulson's mother, Deb, and step-father, Fred Bailey.
